Backyard Beekeeping

Please note: this event will now be held online via Zoom due to the extension of the lockdown in the ACT.

Keeping a beehive in your backyard allows you to harvest your own honey and greatly improves the pollination of your garden crops

Bees are amazing – they pollinate plants, produce honey and live in intricate, complex communities. This introductory workshop is perfect for people thinking about getting in to beekeeping, and for anyone who wants to know more about bees.

It is quite simple to get started with beekeeping. Canberra has a thriving community of backyard beekeepers, who all harvest their own delicious honey.

Come and hear from Rob Lawless on what it takes to be a backyard beekeeper. Learn about the different types of hives available, disease control, and what you need to do throughout the year to maintain a healthy and productive hive.

Tickets are $30+bf.
