COVID Safety Guidelines

Mask update 2/8/22

The Canberra Environment Centre encourages all visitors to the Centre and to the Recyclery to wear a mask while indoors.

Masks are also encouraged for outdoor events. Disposable masks are available, please speak to a member of staff.

Presenters will often remove their mask when addressing workshop groups to assist with clear communication.

Please observe good hygiene and social distancing during the workshop, and do not attend if you have been feeling unwell.

If you are unwell or are a close contact and need to cancel, please contact us on 62480885.

Please note that in the event Public health advice regarding COVID-19 in the ACT region, the Canberra Environment Centre reserves the right to either adapt or cancel the event and refund all ticket-holders at our discretion.

Bad weather and outdoor workshops: While Covid-19 remains present in significant levels in our community we are committed to providing the safest options for workshops, including offering workshops out of doors.

We recognise that outdoor workshops may present obstacles in terms of accessibility for some of our attendees, and we commit to do our best to accommodate the needs of our participants, including working with individual participants to ensure that they can attend. 

In the event of bad weather, we will either cancel and refund the workshop, or move the workshop to indoors, depending upon the nature of the workshop. We reserve the right to change the venue of the workshop at our discretion.

We will inform participants of any venue change or cancellation due to weather 24-48 hours prior to the event.

The Centre aims to provide an environment that fosters a healthy respect for all staff, volunteers, Management Committee members and members. It adheres to the general policy outlined above and will put that policy into place using the following mechanisms:-

• All staff, volunteer, Management Committee and members information remains confidential

• Staff, volunteers, Management Committee and members will be provided with information

about the confidentiality policy

• All staff, volunteers, Management Committee members and member information collected must be maintained securely either in hard copy format in Centre files or electronically in the Centre’s database

• All staff, volunteers, Management Committee members and member contact details are to be kept in secure storage within the appropriate office system

• Staff, volunteers, Management Committee members and members may request access to their information. They are required to show identification and may need to wait until an authorised staff member is available to meet their request.

Information collected

When you browse this website, our system automatically makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:

• your server address;

• top level domain name (e.g.: .com, .net, .gov, .au, etc);

• the type of browser and operating system you used;

• date and time of your visit;

• the previous site visited;

• which pages are accessed;

• the time spent on individual pages and the site overall;

• which files were downloaded.

This information is analysed to determine this website’s usage statistics.

However, no attempt will be made to identify individual users or their browsing activities except, in the event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency (e.g. the Australian Federal Police) exercises a warrant to inspect our service provider’s log files.

We collect no personal information about you unless you voluntarily choose to participate in an activity through this website that involves the provision of personal information, such as:
