The ReCyclery is a community bicycle workshop, with tools, experienced mechanics and volunteers, and an endless supply of secondhand bikes and components. Our goal is to provide a space where all Canberrans can gain new skills and share their old ones, while working towards a healthier city.

The Recyclery is where pre-loved bikes go to get a second chance at life.  Got a bike in reasonable condition that is no longer ridden?  Drop it in to the Centre and we will nurture it back to good health and pass it along to someone who needs it. .

Community tools (ON HOLD)

Come use this great resource!

DISCLAIMER: Community tool usage is currently on hold. A shed is currently under construction, where a dedicated space for community tool usage will be developed.

The ReCyclery has an extensive workshop with most tools that you will need to work on a bike, stands to work at and a wide range of replacement parts - both secondhand and new. We also have skilled mechanics and volunteers to help you if you're stuck. Come in to use the tools and the space and become more confident working on your own bike, and gain the freedom to travel fossil fuel free without anxiety.
Community Tools are a Pay How You Feel resource, we have a cash box and ask that you pay what you can afford.
We recommend between $10 and $40 per hour depending on which tools you use and how much help you need with your job.

Bikes for sale

Support us by buying a refurbished bike.

Need some wheels to get around town but don't want to spend a fortune?  Come and check out our range of second-hand bikes, refurbished by a professional bike mechanic and ready to roll out the door from as little as $100.  You can rest assured in knowing that the money you're spending or the bike you're donating is helping to divert waste from landfill and assisting the Environment Centre in continuing their community education projects.

We also happily offer a discount to anyone who has a health care or pension card, or if you are in a difficult financial situation tell us and we can work something out for you!

VOLUNTEER AND WORK-TRADE

Become a ReCyclery Volunteer

Help out around the ReCyclery and earn credit towards your own bike projects with Work/Trade. We offer wholesale prices on new components, cheap secondhand components and free use of the tools to our member volunteers. Work/Trade is the best way to access our services without having to spend money.

We always have lots to do, and often not enough hands to do it all, so if you love bikes and would like to help out, we are always looking for volunteers, skilled or not. It's a great pathway to learning more about how bikes work and how to fix them, meet people and contribute to the Canberra cycling community. Contact us or just drop in during business hours and have a chat to our staff or one of our volunteers about helping out!

Catch our bike mechanic Chris on YouTube! Chris is in our Toolkit videos teaching bicycle skills like Commuting in Canberra, Learning the parts of your bike and how to fix tyre punctures while you’re out and about.
