Community Bike Repair Shed - Fundraising Campaign
The Canberra Environment Centre is building a new community bike repair shed in North Canberra for The Recyclery so it can continue providing the public with affordable, reliable second-hand bikes and keep building the community’s bike repair skills.
Since moving to our new location at the Gungaderra Homestead in Harrison, we’ve been making do in an old shelter shed designed for rubbish collection and storage. Ironic considering that we’re upcycling old bikes in there and repairing them for sale to divert them from landfill!
We’re currently constructing The Recyclery Community Bike Repair Shed and would love your assistance!
We’re seeking donations to help us fit out the shed to create a vital sustainability resource for the community. We’re planning to reduce the new shed’s environmental footprint and improve its sustainability by cladding it with plywood, adding insulation and installing a water tank. We’ll also install shelves and buy additional community bike repair stands, tools and consumables ready for use.
Please help us transform our new shed into a safe, welcoming and functional bike repair shed where we can promote more active travel, reduce waste, lower our environmental footprint, and foster a greater sense of community by encouraging the repair and reuse of bicycles.
HUGE THANKS: to all our generous sponsors so far who believe in the value of The Recyclery’s Community Bike Repair Shed, including – ActewAGL, The Green Shed, Bushmans Tanks (who donated a water pump), Thor's Hammer, First Sheds, SunStak Energy Geeks and CHC - Homes for the community.
The new shed’s Grand Opening is planned for Saturday 1 March 2025.
