Keeping chooks in the backyard provides you with fresh eggs, a way to turn your kitchen scraps into organic fertiliser and reduces the pest population of your veggie patch. Many chooks also make great pets with their funny personalities and often docile nature.
Join us for a hands-on introduction to backyard chook keeping with local chook keeper and permaculture teacher, Martyn Noakes. Learn how to raise, feed, handle and shelter these incredibly useful birds in a backyard setting. You don’t need a farm to have a flock of happy chickens to supply your house with fresh eggs everyday.
