A message from Gürkan:
“Hello Everyone
My name is Gürkan. I am participating on the board of Canberra Environment Centre.
Our location recently moved to Gungaderra homestead on Mapleton Avenue, and we are trying to get things going there. We are trying to score a grant from the government to re-establish the veggie gardens shown on the map with a red arrow.
If you are wanting to get into gardening, growing your own veggies, or a veteran gardener who would like to share your local wisdom, you are all welcome.
I am running working bees on the dates below to get the veggie gardens going. They are all on Saturdays. I plan three days of get-together. You will learn to do things, meet like-minded people, and be part of the community we are building here.
In exchange, you will be getting a free membership to CEC, which will give you discounts on upcoming workshops.
I will answer your questions about cheesemaking, beekeeping, aquaponics, and growing nutrient-dense produce through the working bees.
If you are planning to attend, please register through Eventbrite and bring garden gloves for yourself, some hand tools, excess seedlings to donate and some homemade food to share. “
