Keeping a bee hive in your backyard allows you to harvest your own honey and greatly improves the pollination of your garden crops. It is quite simple to get started and not the least bit scary. Canberra has a thriving community of backyard bee keepers, who all provide their own delicious honey.

Come and hear from Dermot Asis Sha'non, of the Beekeepers' Association of the ACT on what it takes to be a backyard beekeeper. Learn about the different types of hives available, disease control and what you need to do throughout the year to maintain a healthy and productive hive.
